The new MSHA regulations add additional requirements to documentation. While in the past, the operator was only required to record that an exam was made, the new rule requires that the document includes the name of the person, locations of areas examined, and a description of each adverse condition that is not corrected promptly. We recommend that the competent person also record the adverse conditions that were immediately corrected.
